New Divers
So, you finished your Open Water Class: Now what?
Congratulations on completing your Open Water Scuba Class and taking the first steps into the underwater world!
Here's what to do next:
-
Join our Diving Community: You've become part of a community of fellow adventurers who share your love for underwater exploration. They often gather for diving trips, skill improvement sessions, and social events, so you can join in and connect with like-minded individuals. We have weekly dives open to all divers. These are usually on Wednesday evenings, meeting at 6p and splashing at 7P. You can find information and additional information on the GUE Seattle Facebook page.
-
Dive, Dive, Dive: The best advice for new divers is to dive as much as possible. Practice is crucial to solidify your skills and gain experience. Dive in various locations and situations, like oceans, lakes, and at night, to enhance your training.
-
Build Experience: While gaining experience is vital, consider exceptions such as taking a drysuit class if you didn't do your initial training in one. It keeps you warmer and enhances your diving comfort. Another valuable course is Nitrox diving, offering longer dive times and shorter surface intervals. It's not complicated and adds to your diving enjoyment.
-
Gear Up: Owning your diving gear tends to encourage more frequent diving. It offers convenience and comfort, with equipment tailored to your size. If you trained at Eight Diving, you may want similar top-notch gear. Your instructor or diving community can guide you without any high-pressure sales tactics. You can look through some of our gear choices here.
So - enjoy your journey into diving by joining the community, diving regularly to gain experience, considering specialized training, and thinking about investing in your gear. The emphasis is on sharing the joy of underwater exploration and safety.
We're happy you're here!
